Senator representing Ondo southern senatorial district at the Senate, Senator Nicholas Tofowomo has asked the Federal Government to devise a techonology and a more innovative technique of curbing the criminal insurgency and threat to peace in the country. The distinguished Senator gave this charge in his reaction to the unfortunate demise of Mrs Funke Olakunrin, daughter of the nonagenarian leader of Afenifere, Pa Reuben Fasoranti, Mrs Funke Olakunrin who was murdered along Lagos/ Ore highway, specifically at the Kajola axis of the route. While police investigation is on going on the crime, eye witness accounts had it that the killing of Mrs Olakunrin was the handiwork of alleged Fulani herdsmen who attacked them on their way from Ondo state to Lagos.
Senator Tofowomo while expressing his condolences over the death of Mrs Olakunrin , charged the Federal Government to rein in the reign of terror that seems to be enveloping the Nigerian landscape as cases of killings, insurgency, banditry and kidnapping have been pervading the country unabated.
In a special release made available to the press by his Media Assistant, Olumide Akinrinlola, Senator Tofowomo said the murder of Mrs Olakunrin cannot be swept under the carpet , stressing that to assuage frayed nerves in the west , all the culprits involved in this heinous crime must be brought to Justice.
It will be recalled that the deceased, Mrs Funke Olakunrin was shot dead along the Lagos / Benin highway on Friday while returning to Lagos having visited her aged father in Akure, the Ondo state capital.
Senator Tofowomo prayed God to grant the Fasoranti and Olakunrin families of the deceased the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss of their daughter and wife.
