Barrister Anthony Olatujoye , an Abuja based lawyer and Erinje High Chief has called on Ondo state Governor ,His Excellency Oluwarotimi Akeredolu to endeavor to be extremely dispassionate in his view on the ‘owner/settler’ disagreement between the Ikales and the people of Araromi Obu.

In a telephone interview bewteen the polity on line and Barr Olatujoye, the legal luminary noted that it was good that the case was already in court and it equally gladdens the heart that Gov Akeredolu himself is senior counsel , who must have been briefed on the position of the High court on the matter.

“I am of the opinion that there is no way a tenant can override the interest of the Landlord; there is no way that can happen anywhere in the world.
I understand the matter has gone to the court of Appeal so I am confident that the Governor who is a senior counsel himself will appreciate the need to be dispassionate in his opinion on the matter,” Chief Anthony Olatujoye stressed.

The former Director of Legal services at CBN condemned the killing and loss of lives over the crisis, noting that it was unfortunate and uncalled for. He noted that rather than resorting to self help by both parties , the best step to take was for the judgement debtor to seek an appeal and while doing that abide by the status quo as per the ruling of the High court on the matter.
” There is no way Justice will not be served on the matter so the killing at Ago Alaye was an unnecessary diminishing of human life,” Barr Olatujoye maintained.

He noted that there is a better way to handle matters of this nature without resorting to blood letting more especially as the Ikales at Ago Alaye had lived amicably with the people of Araromi Obu over the years.
It will be recalled that the Ondo state government had set up a fact finding committee to unravel the remote and immediate cause of the crisis and how to avert such acrimony between the two warring communities ; the committee is headed by Mr. Tunde Atere.
